We regret to inform you that the IASPM 2021 to be held in Daegu, South Korea on 6-10 July 2021 has been postponed for a year. Although we had tried our best to hold a “normal” conference with a hope that the Covid-19 pandemic would subside by the time the conference takes place, it is increasingly clear that our chance of having one in 2021 is slim at best. In this circumstance, the IASPM Executive committee and the local organising committee decided that it was no longer necessary to monitor the situation for possible holding of the IASPM 2021.
The new conference date is set to 5-9 July 2022 (provisional). There will be reopening of Call for Proposals in June 2021 for those who missed the chance first time around and those who wish to revise the original proposal. The local organising committee will do our utmost to keep the rescheduling-induced confusion and troubles to a minimum, and make the transition as smooth as possible.
Please read below for the message from Ruper Till, chair of International Association for the Study of Popular Music, about the postponement of the conference. Although the message was originally directed toward the IASPM members, it contains some important statements pertinent for all those who are interested in the IASPM conference.
