IACS Dissertation Prize

To encourage critical scholarship in inter-Asia cultural studies, the IACS Society has set up the IACS Dissertation Prize, granted every two years, to recognize and honor the emerging and exciting research in the field. To enter this competition, dissertations will have to be nominated by the Ph.D. candidate’s advisor or by a scholar in the field. The Dissertation Prize coincides with the IACS Conference and the successful candidate will have to have a Ph.D. degree awarded before the first day of each upcoming conference, while the degree cannot have been awarded any time before the previous conference. The successful dissertation will demonstrate engagement with IACS scholarship, emphasizing an attempt at advancing inter-Asia methodologies and knowledge production on the local, regional, and/or transnational registers.

Calls for nominations will be advertised on the IACS website, and via the IACS social media accounts and the mailing list.
