Inter-Asia Cultural Studies Biannual Hot List of Books: Call for Nomination

The Inter-Asia Cultural Studies (IACS) Society is launching its biannual Hot List of cultural studies books at the IACS Conference in Singapore, July 2013. We are calling for nominations by scholars, including graduate students, of books published in 2010-2012 related to cultural studies in and on Asia, in any language. Self-nominations will be accepted.

Please send a nomination of 500-800 words in English, explaining why you think the nominated book is hot, to IACS Society Vice-Chair Firdous Azim at fazim@bracu.ac.bd.

The selected Hot List of Books will be commended at the Society dinner at the 2013 Conference. The best nomination reviews of the selected books will be published in the Inter-Asia Cultural Studies journal.

Call for Book Launch Proposals

We will be keeping a parallel panel session slot reserved for book launches. Please email the IACS Society Conference Secretary, Dr Daniel Goh, iacs.conference@gmail.com, to propose book launch sessions. Book launch panels should comprise 3-4 presenters involving author(s), editor(s) and discussant(s) in any combination. Authors or editors would be asked to liaise with their publishers to sponsor small receptions and on-site book sales.

Call for Film Screening Proposals

Film screening facilities are available at the conference venue, with seating capacity of up to 300 people. If you have a film you would like to screen at the conference, please email the IACS Society Conference Secretary, Dr Daniel Goh, to make arrangements: iacs.conference@gmail.com.
